PADI Open Water Diver Final Exam: What You Need to Know

The new PADI Open Water Diver eLearning has launched in 10 languages, with additional languages to follow. This innovative tool uses browser tabs to display each new section, providing a more engaging and user-friendly experience for students.

But what's included in this comprehensive program? The new Open Water Diver eLearning features an RDP Table (PDF) with instructions for use, a Dive Computer Simulator (limited languages and online only), all required video integrated into the sections, and all content sections, knowledge reviews, and quizzes (A and B).

To help you fully understand what's involved in this program, here are some answers to frequently asked questions. The new PADI Open Water Diver eLearning is designed to help you complete your training as an entry-level diver by showing mastery of all the skills you learn in your confined sessions and performed in 4 structured dives.

Confined water sessions are performance-based, which means that your instructor will lead you through each skill until you have mastered it and are ready to move on to the next one. Under your instructor's guidance and supervision, you'll apply dive principles and learn and practice dive procedures and skills necessary to dive competently and safely.

All of your confined water training is conducted at Lighthouse Reef, which has perfect conditions for taking your first breaths underwater and getting a glimpse of the tantalizing marine life that awaits you. Confined water is defined as a body of water with pool-like conditions.

To pass the final exam, you'll need to achieve a minimum score of 75%. The exam consists of 4 x 10-question quizzes and a final exam of 50 questions that cover the entire course.

Each section of the manual has a knowledge review that will be reviewed by your instructor, with elaboration provided if necessary. The course is divided into segments that you'll complete primarily on your own time, studying the required manual and viewing the PADI Open Water Diver DVD.

In addition to these self-study components, Knowledge Development establishes the principles and basic information all divers need to have fun and dive safely. After completing this phase of the course, your PADI instructor will guide you through the course timetable and inform you daily of the modules and skills you'll be doing that day.

On your first morning of the course, usually at 08:30 hrs, you'll meet our Dive Staff who will issue you with your dive equipment locker together with registration and course documentation and orientate you to the Dive Center and our facilities.
